Garrett Neighbors Coordinator
 
A Chance to Serve Low Income Seniors
 
Garrett Neighbors Coordinator for Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. - Aging and Nutrition Services. This coordinator will work directly with low income seniors in five senior housing complexes in the Oakland area to become a resource and liaison between the senior housing residents and the greater community to assist with the coordination of programs available for nutrition, activities, socialization as well as health and fitness programming. The coordinator will communicate effectively with all senior housing residents, GCCAC agency staff and work collaboratively with outside agencies to ensure the senior residents are aware of programs available to them. A successful person for this position will have communication, organization and interpersonal skills with a background in assisting seniors.
 
This is a fulltime permanent position with an hourly wage beginning at $16.74 per hour and full agency benefits including health insurance, a pension plan, a flex spending account (FSA), 14 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, and 18 sick days per year. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Wrap Around Child Care Teacher
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. is accepting applications for the following position within the Division of Child and Family Development:
 
Wrap Around Child Care Teacher – Content Specialist I or II (based on qualifications)
 
The successful applicant must be able to plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning activities for children 6 weeks to 3 years old enrolled in a center based classroom. Basic duties include managing the classroom, student supervision, preparation of daily lesson plans, maintaining accurate records, completing reports and performing other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
 
This is a permanent, part-time position, approx. 25-30 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours substituting in classrooms, kitchens and front desks between morning and afternoon child care hours. Starting rate of $14.73 per hour (based upon experience). This position offers Monday-Friday day shift schedule and prorated paid holidays, vacation days and sick days based upon hours worked.
 
Minimum Qualifications include: HS Diploma or GED, must be 19 years old, completed or be willing to complete 99 clock hours in child development and the 45 hour Infant and Toddler certification and/or 45 hour Preschool certification. One year of experience working with children a plus. Preference given to a candidate with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education plus experience.

Head Start and Early Head Start Assistant Teachers – Content Specialist III

Head Start and Early Head Start Assistant Teachers – Content Specialist III
 
The successful applicant must be able to plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning activities for preschool or infant/toddler age children enrolled in a center based classroom. Basic duties include assisting the teacher in managing the classroom, student supervision, preparation of daily lesson plans, maintaining accurate records, completing reports and performing other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and Site Manager. There is an immediate opening in Oakland, MD, but applications can be used for 6 months for positions throughout Garrett County.
 
This is a permanent full-time position offering a Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm schedule with an additional 30 minutes paid from 3:30 – 4:00 pm. Minimum starting rate of $11.99 per hour (based on experience) with a guaranteed increase to $12.50 per hour January 1st. This position offers full Community Action benefits including health insurance, a MD State Pension plan, a flex spending account (FSA), 14 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, and 18 sick days per year.
Preferred Qualification Requirements: An Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education or related field with relevant coursework in Child Development or a Child Development Associate. The applicant should have at least one year experience working with preschool and/or infant and toddler age children.

Bus Aide – Content Support

Bus Aide – Content Support
 
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing supervision and care for children ages birth to 5 years old during school bus transportation to and from the Head Start and Early Head Start centers. The Bus Aide must be able to provide direct assistance to the children when boarding and departing the bus and work cooperatively while maintaining effective communication with parents and staff involved in coordinating student transportation services.
 
This is a permanent, part-time position, approx. 20-25 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours substituting in classrooms, kitchens and front desks between bus runs. Starting at $11.99 per hour with a guaranteed increase to $12.50 per hour January 1st. This position offers Monday-Friday day shift schedule and prorated paid holidays, vacation days and sick days based upon hours worked. An immediate opening for this position is available at the Dennett Road Early Learning Center/Overlook Child Development Center, but applications can also be used for vacancies throughout Garrett County within the next six months.
 
Minimum Qualifications: HS Diploma or GED, must be 19 years old and be physically able to assist children on and off the bus which may include carrying infants and toddlers.

The successful applicants will be responsible for working with children ages birth to 5 years old in the classroom setting, preparing and serving family style meals to children and staff, safe transportation of children in an aide role to the bus driver and/or performing clerical duties. Substitutes are needed in all locations of Garrett County with a current pay rate of $11.75 per hour with a guaranteed increase to $12.50 per hour January 1st. This position offers flexibility to work when you are available, a Monday-Friday day shift schedule, and the opportunity to advance into a permanent position.

Substitute Receptionist (Admin Support)

Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., is accepting applications for Substitute Admin Support Receptionist. This position is responsible for answering all incoming calls to the agency and connecting the caller to the correct department. Documents and scans all press information regarding the agency as well as scanning other agency documents as needed for electronic document management. Assists other departments as needed with typing. Helps visitors to the agency get to the correct area. Collect rent payments for Property Management Department.
 
Position Requirements: Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with a wide variety of people, and knowledge of programs. Education and Experience: Must be comfortable with computers, databases, Excel and Word. Starting amount is $11.75 per hour.
