Weatherization Installation - Crew Member
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee Inc. currently has a position opening for a Weatherization Installation Crew Member, Content Specialist 2, in the Service Coordination Division.
 
This position will be responsible for residential installations as part of our weatherization installation crew for qualifying homes as part of the Weatherization Assistance Program. A successful candidate must have trades experience, especially experience with general carpentry. Experience with general electrical is a plus. The position will require the employee to acquire the BPI Weatherization Crew Leader and Weatherization Retrofit Installer Certifications immediately upon hire. All cost associated with obtained certifications will be paid for by GCCAC. Approximately 90% of this position will be in the field, conducting installations of weatherization measures, which may require climbing, working in crawlspaces, attics, or other confined areas, and the need to lift and move 50 pounds or more regularly. This position occasionally requires outside work in inclement weather. As this position requires direct contact with the public, excellent communication skills are necessary, and the ability to supervise other workers, organize a jobsite and the ability to multitask. A successful candidate must be able to work with limited direct supervision.

Qualifications/Requirements

AA Degree in related field, a Trade School Certificate plus 2 years’ related experience, or a high school diploma plus 3 years’ related experience. Special consideration will be given for any licenses or certifications already acquired. This position requires some computer proficiency, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage in physical labor. A criminal background check is required. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Position is full time and offers Monday-Friday day shift schedule. Full benefit package with a salary range of $30,638 to $36,615. GTS Drivers: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Substitute Commercial Drivers
 
Garrett Transit Service, a department of Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. (GCCAC) is accepting applications for FULL-TIME, PART-TIME, AND SUBSTITUTE DRIVERS. Applicants with a commercial driver’s license (CDL), class C or higher with passenger and school bus endorsements, are preferred but not required. Successful applicants must have at least five years general driving experience, have an excellent driving record, and be able to pass a DOT physical examination. The applicant must also be willing to complete basic First Aid and CPR training.

This is a safety-sensitive position, therefore successful applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug testing while employed. Also, a copy of a current driving record will be required. The successful applicants must also pass a criminal background check.

Full-time employees receive full benefits such as 12 annual leave days, 18 sick leave days, 7 paid holidays, and 8 floating holidays. Part-time employees receive these benefits on a pro-rated basis. Full-time employees also have the option for health, vision, and dental insurance along with a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plan. Also, State Pension for eligible employees.

Meals on Wheels Drivers
 
Garrett Transit Service, a department of Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., is accepting applications for drivers for the Meals on Wheels program. Applicants must have at least three years of general driving experience, an excellent driving record, and be able to pass a DOT physical examination. The applicants must also be willing to complete Basic First Aid and CPR training as instructed.
Duties will include, but not be limited to: delivering meals from the Mary Browning Senior Center using an agency vehicle, loading and unloading food trays, delivering the meals in a timely manner, and having a pleasant exchange with meal recipients. Driver is responsible for maintaining the delivery vehicle, filling out a pre-trip sheet (checking fluids, tires, etc.), keeping interior/exterior clean, and delivering the vehicle for regularly scheduled maintenance. This position is day shift, Monday – Friday, 9 am to 1 pm, with a starting pay of at least $12.50/hr.

Garrett Transit Service (GTS) Auto Mechanic

General Statement of Work: This position (Content Specialist II) assists the Lead Mechanic in performing a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and repair of buses, vans and other equipment, including building maintenance. This positon works under the general supervision of the Lead Mechanic.

Distinguishing Features: Performs major and minor engine repair and replacement work, inspections and repairs on vehicles or equipment, performs safety inspections in accordance with Federal and State Laws, installs, replaces parts, reassembles and tests a variety of drive train and engine equipment. Installs, replaces parts, reassembles and tests a variety of drive train and engine equipment. Installs bearings and effects proper adjustment: adjusts and installs brakes, performs electrical installation and repair work on buses and equipment such as batteries, terminal, lights, turn signals, fuses, etc. Installs and repairs exhaust systems. Responds to road calls and makes emergency repairs to disabled vehicles and equipment. May do welding and cutting. Maintains accurate records of maintenance performed and parts used. The work performed by this position affects the safety and security of the ridership and employees of Garrett Transit Service. This is a safety sensitive position and must meet all requirement of the GCCAC and federal drug and alcohol testing regulations.

• Performs PM inspections on vehicles
• Maintains an accurate record of all work performed
• Repair electrical and fuel systems
• Assist the Lead Mechanic in inventory control
• Install and adjust brakes
• Install and repair exhaust systems
• Maintain clean, safe maintenance shop
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on varied equipment
• Perform seasonal labor duties as required such as shoveling and plowing snow, spreading de-icing/anti-skid chemicals, mowing and trimming
• Perform daily custodial duties to maintain a safe, clean transportation facility
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Abilities: Working knowledge of gasoline and diesel powered engines; working knowledge of the auto motive mechanic trade. Knowledge of the proper use and care of tools and equipment. Working knowledge of necessary safety precautions and skill in operating the tools and equipment used in automotive repair work. Must possess the ability to work independently, and be able to follow oral and written instructions accurately. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and representatives of MTA, PSC, MVA and other agencies.

Minimum Education, Experience and Training: High School Diploma or GED required, along with 3 years’ experience in the maintenance of passenger vehicles. Specialized courses in automotive diagnosis, maintenance, repair and/or inspection is desirable. Position requires a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred.

Physical Requirements: This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and repetitive motions.

Substitute Receptionist (Admin Support)

Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., is accepting applications for Substitute Admin Support Receptionist. This position is responsible for answering all incoming calls to the agency and connecting the caller to the correct department. Documents and scans all press information regarding the agency as well as scanning other agency documents as needed for electronic document management. Assists other departments as needed with typing. Helps visitors to the agency get to the correct area. Collect rent payments for Property Management Department.
 
Position Requirements: Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with a wide variety of people, and knowledge of programs. Education and Experience: Must be comfortable with computers, databases, Excel and Word. Starting amount is $11.75 per hour.
